In May 2017 TCDC (Thailand Creative and Design Centre) is moving to Charoen Krung Road inside an old post office building (The Grand Postal Building 1160 Charoenkrung Road). The organisation aims to foster Thailand's creative potential by providing exhibition space and resources, including Asia’s largest design library. "We don’t want to just move there but form a community," says Laistrooglai according to
independent.co.uk. "We aim to turn Charoen Krung Road into a creative district."
Opposite the Grand Postal Building is Charoen Krung Soi 45, where you come across
Outlaw Creative Cuisine. Co-owner and French chef Romain Guiot keeps his offerings "simple yet delicious", as
Bangkok Post describes it.

Around Charoen Krung Soi 22:
Sol Heng Tai Mansion โซวเฮงไถ่ บ้านจีนโบราณ, also known as Bann Duangtawan: From Charoen Krung Soi 22 you pass to Soi Chao Sua Son and then Soi Wanit 2 to arrive at his old Chinese House at 282 Soi Wanit 2, where you find a Café and a Scuba Diving school. In the late Ayutthaya period, the Sols arrived from Hokkien in Siam. This family gained fortune as traders and soon built their two-storey compound in Talat Noi on Soi Duangtawan, four houses surrounding a large courtyard, mainly made of teak timbers held together by wedge connections. Today the mansion remains a home for members of the Sol clan. It is not open for public visit. However you might run into the current clan matriarch, Duangtawan Posayajinda, near the mansion’s red front gate bearing lanterns. A simple inquiry will most likely produce a friendly invitation to take a look in one of Bangkok’s architectural heritage. Read more on

A wandering from Wat Suan Plu through the busy street brings you to Assumption College and the principal Roman Catholic Church of Thailand. Designed by French architects, the church of the Archdiocese of Bangkok is crafted of marble and adorned with stained glass imported from France, Singapore, and Italy.

Later you will arrive at Wat Suan Plu. Located on Charoen Krung Soi 42/1, the temple is home to an architectural masterpiece built in the early Ratanakosin period and recognized in 2002 by the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage.

Boon Sap ร้านบุญทรัพย์ คุณหลวง: 1478 Charoenkrung Road. In this sweets shop you get mango and sticky rice. The mango is available only in the summer, but you can try other desserts, such as the khao niew sangkaya (sticky rice topped with Thai custard).

Across from Charoen Krung Soi 49 you find "The Hobbyist Café". Wood furnishings in natural shades paired with white walls make the interior warm and inviting.
