A free new boat route from Bang Wa pier near Bang Wa BTS station along Klong Phasi Charoen and Klong Bangkok Yai to Tha Chang pier at Chao Phraya River started In June 2019, providing an alternate way for commuters to travel between Bangkok and Thonburi. The boat service has been launched by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, as Bangkok Post reported. The boats stop at Wat Intaram, the Memorial Bridge (Phra Phuttha Yodfa Bridge) and Rajinee pier. A one-way trip takes about 40 minutes. The boat leaves each terminal every 30 minutes from 6am-9am and 3pm-7pm, and every hour from 9am-3pm.
From BTS Bang Wa station take exit 5 to a skywalk towards the pier, where stairs are leading down. Along the skywalk Khlong Bang Luang Community is showing a photo exhibition about Khlong life (December 2019).
Timetable even in English:

#MyKrungthep Bang Krachao บางกระเจ้า - the lungs of Bangkok

You find the locations on this #MyKrungthep Bangkok Google Map

Picture cysewski

You need a break from the polluted air in the city? Bang Krachao บางกระเจ้า is a peninsula in Chao Phraya River opposite to Klong Toey in Phra Pradaeng พระประแดง district. It is nicknamed the lungs of Bangkok because of its greenery and pristine mangroves. Most of the villages in Bang Krachao are situated along Chao Phraya and the main canals. The houses on the river are built on stilts - as prevention against floods. You reach the peninsula by ferry from Wat Klong Toei and discover a sudden slice of rural Thailand with slow life, bamboo-shaded creeks, old temples and miles of walkways leading through mango and banana plantations full of butterflies. A half-day trip to Bang Krachao can be arranged through Recreational Bangkok Biking. You can choose from a bike tour or a combination of hiking and transport in a pedicab (read more: Biking in Bangkok). Some families offer homestay. You can also visit Sri Nakhorn Khuan Kan, which is a natural and quiet park. Read more about Bangkrachao in Richard Barrows Blog about Bangkok Daytrips. And discover hotels and restaurants nearby with #MyKrungthep: Your Guide to the Treasures of Bangkok

On weekends you can visit the Bang Nam Phueng Floating market - read more in the section Hidden and Famous Markets.

There were also guided tours to see fireflies after dark by local residents on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. But travelers report now, they have heard, that last years flood has wiped out the Lamphu trees, that used to attract the fireflies. Earlier you could call these numbers for reservation: 02 819 6762 and 02 461 3253. At the homestay in Bang Namphueng บางน้ำผึ้งโฮมสเตย์ สมุทรปราการ you can rent bicycles for 30 Baht a day. For information about the Homestay call Khun Arporn at +66 (0) 89-807-2501 or Khun Mali at +66 (0) 81-347-3997. Read also the review by Bangkok Post. And read about popangza's tour.

#MyKrungthep Good Morning old Bangkok:
In the Neighborhood of Wat Pho

This little walk starts at 9 am from Soi Pansook. Your look goes to Thanon Maharat: Schoolgirls and a monk.

Bangkok starts to get busy.

This curtain above the shops tells you: Maharat road is not far from Chao Phraya River. You are in the old centre of commerce, where the goods were brought by ships.

Breakfast is ready - for 25 Baht.

And he is already ready for a joke - in front of a chinese temple in Soi Pratu Nokyung.

Still sleeping? No, at the corner from Maharat Road to Tha Thien Pier the windows stay closed to keep the heat outside.

Great door-design!

Everything for your health: old pharmacy.

Thai and Chinese.

The shophouses of Tha Tien are believed to be built from 1865 to 1910, they lie around a fresh market inside.

Inside the fresh market: Here you find everything what can be salted and dried. Let's get some fish!

Mmh! We get hungry!

Small soi inside the fresh market.

Now we move towards the wood building with Tha Thien Pier.

The first smile today - may be a good day!

Tha Tien Pier looks like this, if you arrive from the boat on the Chao Phraya River.

After the long walk it's time for a foot or body massage by Wat Pho standards.

9.50 pm: Rub Aroon Café is awakening too.

On the other side of Maharat Road: Wat Pho.

A closed door is always a promise: there has to be even more beauty inside!

This view discloses more of the treasures of Wat Pho.

Noodlesoup for breakfast? Try it, you will love it.

Back on Maharat Road.

The side street: Soi Pratoo Nok Yoong again.

Now we have a glimpse of Chakrabongse Villas จักรพงษ์ วิลล่า, built in 1908 by Prince Chakrabongse Bhuvanath as secondary residence on the Chao Phraya River. Later it was the residence of Prince Chula Chakrabongse. Today its maintained by his daughter Narisa. If you want to pay at least 8000 Baht a day, you can stay here. See a picture, how it looks from the river by Dr GiGi

From the street you cannot see that, but Aungaey published this picture in her blog. And 4travel.jp has some nice insights too.
